Also located in Damansara Heights, the design team for this 3-storey semi-D had to integrate various functions whilst also catering for privacy from very proximate neighbours within a site smaller than a tennis court.

Designed as 3 distinct levels stacked on each other, the lowest tier is open and public with a swimming pool, landscaped side garden and rear courtyard. The middle tier is completely private for the family living spaces as well as a secret garden while the topmost tier is a hybrid space which can be used as a common gathering area for both the family and guests.

Substantial use of glass increases the natural light in common areas but is filtered through in private areas by our characteristic façade screen which utilises 9000 strips of locally-sourced tropical Merpauh hardwood. The flexible façade screen creates spatial options by integrating doors that open at every window and door of the main building with the dual functional purpose of reducing midday heat gain whilst affording privacy. Extensive landscaping creates the impression of living and dining ‘in’ a garden by surrounding all sides of the open living, dining and kitchen areas with plants highlighted by 5m-high vertical green wall.
